I have upper lip darkening after laser hair removal 1 month ago, how long would it take for it to go away?

I already have melasma on my cheeks. I developed darkening on upper lip in the same pattern as laser was applied. It doesn't look melasma but tanned skin. I had dermamelan treatment but no effect on upper lip. is this going to be permanent or would fade with treatment creams in few months time? please comment as i am very nervous it gives my face strange look actually.

Individuals with fair skin and very dark skin can be at greater risk for pigment changes of the skin after laser hair removal. It sounds like you are experiencing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This usually does improve on its own, but it may take several months. Skin lightening creams may help. Make sure your treatment provider is aware of this so that they may adjust the laser settings accordingly.

This sounds like hyper pigmentation resulting from the inflammation caused by the laser treatment.  It should resolve over time, and the bleaching creams should help.  Make sure to tell your practitioner, so that they can decrease the energy for the next treatment.

What kind of laser was used? A q switched tattoo laser could lighten this darker color safely.Do a test spot first .This is well tolerated and safe.
