Are CO2 laser and microneedling with PRP good for topical steroid damaged skin? (photos)

Question

I am 21 years old. My skin is damaged because of extended use of topical steroids for eczema and rosacea. After stopping the cream I now have steroid induced acne, fine lines, large pores and thinned skin. My doctor has prescribed doxycycline and antihistamines to calm the acne down. He then wants to move forward with laser resurfacing or microneedling. Is this a good idea? Will it further thin my skin or will my skin be able to regenerate itself since I am young? Thank you doctors.

Thank you for your question and your photos. I’m not sure microneedling would be the best solution for you at this point. CO2 laser treatments might offer positive results. However, you have numerous issues going on at once, and this will require a careful assessment by an experienced, board-certified dermatologist. Through an in-person assessment and a treatment plan customized to your precise needs and goals, you should be able to achieve positive results.

CO2 can stimulate more collagen and thicken your epidermis more than microneedling. Majority of patients only need 2-3 sessions for optimal gain, All the best, Dr Davin S. Lim
