After SMP treatment what does the pigment look like?

So I'm looking to get SMP to conceal my FUE scars. I've heard that once the skin has healed and pigment settled in, the end result isn't actually well defined dots on the skin, but rather the given area is simply darkened. As I've never seen any pictures of SMP results after healing, could you tell me if this is indeed the case.

The result of your SMP procedure will really depend on how the pigment is applied and how it was formulated to create the final color. Your provider needs to do a good job of mixing the pigment to produce a natural-looking color that will blend in with the rest of your hair and appear as inconspicuous as possible.

Also how well the dots are defined will depend on the cross-sectional thickness of the needle as well as the shape. At my office, the Dr. U Hair and Skin Clinic in Los Angeles, we prefer an angled V-shaped tip for more realistic outcomes. We actually do not perform conventional SMP, but rather a more specialized (but related) procedure called Trichopigmentation. The ink is placed more superficially beneath the skin to prevent a (light physics) phenomenon called the Tyndall effect. Regular tattoo and SMP pigment in the skin will bend light rays, creating a bluish hue to result., instead of a natural-looking brown or black.

Also, if you are looking to conceal your FUE scars, SMP pigment alone may not give you satisfactory results. The final pigment may appear darker if too much is applied, for example. Also, the empty areas may still be visible on the scalp and may require the insertion of new hair grafts for better coverage

If the inks are placed too deep, they tend to spread from the fine dots initially made into a smeared larger dot that would be come lighter
