Hi, I have many concerns about my breast reduction and lift 5 months post op. The scars under the breast seem to be getting wider and spreading, they are still quite raised and thick. Is this normal 5 months post op? Also are my areola scars normal? They are different sized and stretch small to large constantly. Also are my scars under my breasts too high up? They are not at all hidden. Thanks

It hard to comment on the results of your breast reduction from the photos you have posted and not knowing what they were like before, but you do seem to have a satisfactory result. You unfortunately seem to have developed hypertrophic or thickened scars. I do notice this from time to time in my younger patients. Breast reduction scars tend to settle better in the older patient. You should see your plastic surgeon and he could help by treating these scar with streroid injections and silicone gel prescription. Your scars are slighly above the crease. Although they were probably in the crease to start with immediately after your operation, with time, the breast tends to settle down a bit lower and the scars can rise up. This is probably what has happened in your case and I do counsel my patients prior to the procedure that this could potentially happen.
