How long does it typically take for columella pain to subside post open rhinoplasty and how should I be cleaning it?

It is unusual to have pain in the columella 3 months after an open rhinoplasty.  They can be a retained suture, and undiagnosed abscess or a neuroma formation that could be causing this.RegardsDr. J

It is unusual to have pain last into the 3 month mark after a rhinoplasty.  Have you addressed this with your surgeon?  You should not need to clean the columella at this point either since it should be fully healed.  A photo would help better assess your situation.

It is not typical to have pain or the need to clean the columella 3 months after surgery. Please contact your surgeon for an appt. You may have a stitch (suture) that needs to be addressed
