Would a compression bra help capsular contracture?

Question

It's not too severe at this point, mild discomfort and slight misshape (a bit of flattening at the bottom of the breast) in left breast. I am massaging daily and doing chest exercises. My question is this, would it be better to wear a compression bra, or no bra at all to help things along. The breast feels much better when I wear a compression bra (relieves a bit of the discomfort); however, I am concerned that I am doing the opposite of what I should be doing by wearing a compression bra.

Since your surgeon knows your case intimately, speak with him or her. In general, though, a compression bra won't affect capsular contracture so wear it if it feels comfortable. Best, Dr. Nazarian

Thank you for your question.  In real facts the compression therapy with the post op bra  doesn't use to capsular contracture. There is no evidence of wearing a specific bra or preforming breast massage that will effect capsular contracture. Follow up with your chosen surgeon.

No, a bra will not influence a capsular contracture in any way. Confirm with your surgeon, but the bra likely can be worn/not worn based on your comfort,

Hi thanks for sharing your case. There is no clinical evidence that the use of a compression Bra will prevent the formation of capsular contracture . When using the Bra you feel better because it gives you better support than conventional Bra which is why you feel better . So the best thing you can do is to keep the massages and expect not to advance the degree of contracture because the solution for this is surgery.

Sorry but it is not likely that a compression bra will help. However, if it makes you feel good then no reason not to do so.Ask your doctor his opinion on an oral medication that may help early contracture.If your discomfort becomes more severe in the future, you may have that treated with a capsule removal.
