What could happen when I wake up from anesthesia?

ElieBR, Thanks for your question. It is very common for patients to be nauseated after surgery. There are many things that could be done to prevent these symptoms, you could/should ask your plastic surgeon if he/she uses any of these methods:Before surgery: Emend taken the morning of surgeryDuring surgery: steroid, zofran, acid blocker (for stomach acid), scopolamine patch, using a throat pack (to prevent any blood from going into your stomach during surgery)After surgery: zofran, phenergan, scopolamine patchIt is not necessary to use all of these medications, but some combination of these medicines should be used. Some patients develop post operative nausea and vomiting but there are ways for surgeons and anesthesiologists to curb this issue.Hope this helps. Raja Mohan MD

Any surgery has the potential to cause nausea and vomiting so there is a chance.  It is unlikely to upset the result though.

A rhinoplasty is performed to change the cosmetic shape of the nose and has nothing to do with the sinus cavities. A septoplasty is performed when there is a deviated septum blocking air flow through the nose. A septoplasty does not change the shape of the nose. Endoscopic sinus surgery is performed to remove polyps inside the sinus cavities, and has nothing to do with the rhinoplasty. The chance of nausea and vomiting after an anesthetic is in the 5-10% range in our surgery Center, and is usually related to the anesthetic and swallowing blood down the back of the throat.
