I went in to get a consult for the removal of a tattoo that is small, black ink only, and is 2.5 weeks old. The place has very good reviews, and is run by a nurse practitioner. She was super friendly and understanding. I was hesitant because she told me that as the tattoo is visibly completely healed, it would actually be better to start sooner, and she has had good results with this with other people. Looking for thoughts on this, any input appreciated!
Answer: Starting Tattoo Removal on a New Tattoo Laser tattoo removal has the best results after the skin has completely healed from getting the tattoo. Usually 6-8 weeks is sufficient time to heal. Also, in between each laser tattoo removal session is the same idea. The longer you let it heal and clear the ink you will most likely do less treatments and have less adverse effects like scar tissue.

Answer: The Sooner You Start... Thanks for your question. Laser tattoo removal is a long process. The sooner you start, the sooner you will be done. You have to wait until it is completely healed. Laser manufacturers teach to treat every 6-8 weeks. We found that we get much better results with less treatments by waiting longer between treatments. We have our patients wait 3-4 months between treatments.Choose a picosecond laser over nanosecond / Q Switch for mare safety and less complications. Best of luck.
