Screws and metal plate after chin advancement (genioplasty). Should I take them out ? (photos)

I had a surgery 12 years ago in France and never thought that I should take this metal plate out because the surgeon told me I could either leave it or take it out but I have several concerns., I have a little fold on the cin; I am wondering if I take the screws and plate out will enhance the projection. I have had several root canals done and I am wondering if it's not due to this procedure because it was only on the lower front teeth.

Thank you for the question and sharing your photo and concerns.  Unless the metal plate is causing any problems, it is not likely worth the procedure required to take it out.  Removing it would not likely affect the projection of your chin one way or the other. Thank you for your pictures.  Your result still looks good.  I would not remove your plates/screws.  There removal will not correct the mental crease (normal structure).

It would be great to evaluate this clinically and take xrays. Most likely root canals have nothing to do with this.  Sometimes, plates cause deformity in the chin area.
