How long will this wound dehiscence take to heal? (Photo)

Dear diastsisThere is a large variability in length of time for these types of wounds to heal.  I would render a guess of 2 months possibly 2.5 months. Follow your surgeons instructions. It's a long and frustrating road, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. These would breakdowns will heal with good wound care and time. Be patient. 

but your surgeon should be debriding dead tissue as it presents itself to help facilitate healing in addition to meticulous wound care.  You have an unfortunate complication but you will heal and your scar will be much better than what you could imagine from this.  Such wounds will take 1-2 months to heal completely so be patient and see your surgeon regularly.

Not sure why you needed a T-incision with your abdominoplasty but the junction of the T incision is the weak point of this repair.  When wounds are placed under tension and there are excessive movement after surgery this point can break down.  This wound will close under the right circumstances.  You have to be eating well and have adequate nutrition.  You should put Silvadene inside the wound and wash it twice a day to minimize bacterial growth and prevent tissues from drying out.  Tissues that dry out will die.  Eventually the wound will granulate and contract close.  After the wound has healed and closed the scar can be revised later without fear of falling apart if minimal skin undermining is needed.  There are a lot of expensive remedies that can be put in the wound but Silvadene is the most cost effective way of healing this wound.  Regranex is a platelet derived growth factor that helps wounds heal.  Bio-Restore is derived from Amniotic tissue and stem cells will accelerate wound healing but is very very expensive.
