Is it possible to have all on 4 implants on both jaws after jaw surgery?

I am having a bimaxilliary osteotomy and want to have the all on 4 implant bridge placed when my jaws heal. How long do I need to wait after my surgery before I can have this done. Can the implants be placed in the jaw if I already have pins there from the jaw surgery?

I think that the surgeon should be able to recommend a time frame for you to start all on 4 implants. Please understand that there are a few of factors that will influence your healing process. If your health is poor to average, will all come into play. How involved was the surgery? Can your body handle treatment so close to another surgery. These are just some of the questions that may have to be addressed, prior to starting all on 4 treatment. However, the surgeon and the dentist should collaborate to find a good time line that works for you.

The  dental implants for the All-On-4  procedure can be placed as soon as your jaws have healed enough to allow for normal function. Be sure to inform your surgeon that you intend to have dental implants placed. With careful planning and the use of a CT scan, you should have no problem placing dental implants in the proper position to support an All-On-4 prosthesis. The benefit of All on 4 Surgeries is that you can have a hybrid prosthesis placed on the upper and lower jaws immediately after surgery.  This initial prosthesis is usually a provisional, giving time for you gums to heal.  A final hybrid prosthesis is fabricated after healing is complete.  On very rare cases, we cannot place a provisional on the implants and the patient will need to wear a denture until the implants and gums heal for a final hybrid prosthesis is placed.
