I am 31 and I recently did a series of EZGel under-eye injections before my wedding, and I loved how rejuvenated my under eye area is. But now, I’ve started noticing these mid cheek grooves that I swear I never had before. They’re most noticeable in overhead lighting, and it’s really starting to bother me. I’m not sure if it’s from the placement of the EZGel, the cannula technique, or if it’s just aging and unfortunate timing.. but either way, I’m suddenly super self-conscious about it. I’d love to hear your thoughts or advice on what it is and what might help. I’m feeling very self conscious about them especially after seeing how noticeable they are in my wedding photos.

First, I want to say this is a very common concern, especially after an under-eye treatment that you loved. When we refresh one area of the face, it can sometimes make nearby transitions more noticeable, particularly in certain lighting like overhead or flash photography.
What you’re describing sounds less like a complication and more like a change in contrast. EZ Gel (or any regenerative under-eye treatment) can improve brightness, texture, and support in the tear trough area. Once that area looks smoother and more hydrated, natural mid-cheek contours, which were likely already there can suddenly stand out more. This is especially true in your early 30s, when we begin to see subtle shifts in facial fat pads and skin elasticity.
