PRP PRF Plasma gel treatments are becoming very popular due to the recent backlash against dermal fillers and many people are confused about the terminology. Here is a quick explanation: The concept behind these treatments is to take advantage of the natural growth factors that are stored in the platelets in your blood. PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is a way to concentrate the platelets and inject them into the target tissue so that a signal can be released to start the healing cascade. The signal released by the platelets attract stem cells and initiate production of new collagen, bone, fat etc. We use this in aesthetics to create a natural rejuvenation. PRF which stands for Platelet Rich Fibrin is just a way to process the blood so that the plasma coagulates. This is achieved by spinning the blood slowly and not using any anticoagulants. The advantage of PRF is that the coagulation allows the growth factors to be released slowly so that in theory, more collagen stimulation occurs over a longer period of time. EZ gel and other plasma gels are produced by gently heating the plasma portion of the blood to create a solid gel. The gel has the advantage of producing instant volume when injected like a filler. Unlike a filler the gel truly dissolves away after a few weeks and while it is doing that, the growth factors are released slowly (over weeks as opposed to hours for PRP and days for PRF). This slow release of growth factors allows for a prolonged signaling for more natural collagen and fat rejuvenation.

No, PRF and EZ Gel are not the same. PRF is a natural fibrin matrix derived from your blood, while EZ Gel combines albumin (from your blood) with heat to create a gel-like consistency for longer-lasting effects. Both are used for skin rejuvenation but have different preparation methods and applications.
