PRP PRF Plasma gel treatments are becoming very popular due to the recent backlash against dermal fillers and many people are confused about the terminology. Here is a quick explanation: The concept behind these treatments is to take advantage of the natural growth factors that are stored in the platelets in your blood. PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is a way to concentrate the platelets and inject them into the target tissue so that a signal can be released to start the healing cascade. The signal released by the platelets attract stem cells and initiate production of new collagen, bone, fat etc. We use this in aesthetics to create a natural rejuvenation. PRF which stands for Platelet Rich Fibrin is just a way to process the blood so that the plasma coagulates. This is achieved by spinning the blood slowly and not using any anticoagulants. EZ gel and other plasma gels are produced by gently heating the plasma portion of the blood to create a solid gel. The gel has the advantage of producing instant volume when injected like a filler.
