Would under eye filler through tear trough help under eye wrinkles? (Photos)

Question

I had microdosing of botox done on the small wrinkles under my eyes and it did nothing. If anything, I feel it extended an existing standing wrinkle. Would under eye filler through tear trough improve these wrinkles when smiling? I have noticed the hollow area and constant look of tired. When I'm not smiling my wrinkles don't look bad. As soon as I smile, all of these tiny wrinkles and textures come out and I don't like it. I don't have down time for lasers.

Hello, and thank you for providing photos along with your question. Based on these images, you do appear to have hollowing under the eyes, making you an ideal candidate for tear trough filler. By injecting small amounts of filler around the tear trough, the skin will become plump and supple, lifting the skin and smoothing out the visible groove in the skin.

However, there are other options to consider as well. Lasers, Profound RF (RF microneedling), and other procedures that help collagen production can be very effective in refreshing the skin around the eyes. For a surgical option, there is facial fat transfer to restore volume under your eyes or lower blepharoplasty which eliminates excess skin or fat under the eyes to reduce the appearance of bags, puffiness, loose skin, or hollowness under the eyes. To determine the best treatment for you, schedule an in-person consultation with a reputable board-certified facial plastic surgeon. Your surgeon can do a proper evaluation, determine your eligibility for any procedure, and ensure the best possible outcome.

At home peels like cosmelan, enlighten and aerify along with dermarolling (MTS roller with anteage MD ampules) should be started now. There are many things you can do to treat under eye hollows and dark circles. A surgical option to remove skin and/or fat will such as lower eyelid blepharoplasty with or without fat pad repositioning will be the best long term. There are many things you can do to treat under eye hollows and dark circles without surgery. Non invasive less downtime options such as fillers (Belotero, Juvederm Volbella​), lasers (Moxi/Halo/Fraxel/CO2​), Renuvion (J-Plasma), microneedling/PRP, stem cells and microneedling RF like Fractora PiXel8 or Morpheus can all help give some improvement. Accutite can often be used or stronger lasers like erbium or co2 spot treatment can tighten the skin and give very quick improvement in wrinkles and texture.
