What is the cost of Breast Augmentation in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver) BC, Canada?

I am honestly looking for the best price possible before I go out of country to get the procedure done. I think its crazy that you can get the surgery done in the US for as little as $4,000, when in Vancouver you pay upwards of $7,000 to $20,000. The cost of living here is already high (an average house is 1 million), and wanting to feel beautiful should not have a price tag that is unattainable for those who do not want to go into debt.

Dear bricha,the cost of surgery depends on a lot of factors (type of surgery, number of treated areas, anesthesia fee, surgeon, facility fee, city, etc.). In LA area, BA typically ranges from 7-8K. It would be the best to visit or call plastic surgery offices and ask for a price.Daniel Barrett, MD

Thank you for the question. I commend your desire to avoid debt.  In my practice, I tell patients considering elective breast surgery that it is always in their best interests to achieve a certain degree of financial stability prior to undergoing elective surgery of any type. Patients should also keep in mind that additional surgery may be necessary in the short or long term, following the primary procedure that is being performed;  this additional surgery may be associated  out-of-pocket expenses.
When it comes to cost of surgery, there may be many “variables” involved. The specific surgeon's credentials/experience level (or lack thereof), the specific geographic area you are looking at, the different operations available, the location of the procedure ( quality of surgery facility), type/quality of anesthesia provider, type of breast implants… are some of the potential variables involved. You will find average costs of surgery listed on this website, and on individual plastic surgeon's websites as well.
In regards to outcome of the planned procedure, more important than costs of the procedures will be careful selection of your plastic surgeon.  I would suggest you visit a few surgeons whose practices concentrate on aesthetic surgery. ***Ask to SEE lots of examples of their work AND preferably speak/see patients who have had similar procedures done.  Again, although I do appreciate your concerns regarding finances, I would also suggest that you do not base your selection of plastic surgeon primarily on costs of surgery; keep in mind that revisionary surgery may be more costly in many ways.  I hope this helps.
