2 days ago I received botox treatment in order to soften my jawline. 24 hours after the treatment I realized that I have bruising and a bulge (only when I clench and chew) on the right side of my face. My jaw was aching quite considerably the day after the treatment but this has now subsided. I am worried as the bulge has not reduced in size yet. I can also feel that the muscle in the right side of my face is swollen or bigger when I relax than the left side - which was not the case before.

Answer: Bruising and bulge post-treatment? Botox results
Botox is not used with the specific purpose of reducing muscle bulk; its function is to weaken (temporarily) the muscle function. Of course, it's possible that over time with consistent injections for maintenance, the muscle bulk may atrophy from disuse but that would likely take at least 4-6...
Common side effects of Botox include: Pain, swelling or bruising at the injection site. However, since it has been 3 weeks now I would recommend following up with your injector to be evaluated or getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
