How do I remove the dark patches around the corner of my mouth? (Photos)

I’ve dealt with dark patches around the corners of my lips for as longer as I can remember. From what I‘ve researched, it’s likely because of drool (I have a retainer on my lower set of teeth). I’ve used anti-fungal cream on and off and that doesn’t seem to do anything, and I use Vaseline at night. Are there any remedies for this issue?
