It is not uncommon for people to have mild facial asymmetries involving the jaw, cheekbones, and facial fat. These asymmetries often result in one side of the face appearing larger than the other. To achieve a more symmetrical facial appearance, all affected structures should be addressed individually.

If there is asymmetry in the fullness of the lower anterior face, where the buccal fat pads are located, an asymmetric buccal fat removal—removing more fat from the larger side—can help achieve balance in that area. For cheekbones, the easiest way to address asymmetry is by augmenting the smaller side with cheekbone fillers, which offers precise results with minimal downtime.

Regarding the jaw, it’s essential to determine whether decreasing the larger side or increasing the smaller side is more beneficial. To decrease the larger side, Botox can be used to reduce the masseter muscle, thereby decreasing the jaw's width. To increase the jaw's width on the smaller side, jaw augmentation with fillers or an implant could be the solution.

Therefore, buccal fat removal alone is not sufficient to achieve facial symmetry when multiple structures are involved.
