Yes, it can be done with the tummy tuck/abdominoplasty. The abdominoplasty will also consist of tightening the diastasis recti, the laxity of the anterior rectus muscle. The spigelian hernia is lateral and can be repaired directly externally or with a scope and placement of mesh. Ask your plastic surgeon involved for overall care.Good luck!
Wow haven’t heard that term in years. How was this diagnosed? Have you seen a general surgeon? What has your plastic surgeon said? These are all questions to bring up with your doctor. It may be a simple matter your plastic surgeon can deal with of you may need a general surgeon working with the plastic surgeon. I would think it could be dealt with at the same time but your plastic surgeon is the best one to ask. Good luck!
Hello,Midline hernias around the belly button are most commonly repaired with rectus plication. If your hernia is truly in the semilunar line, it is an easy and appropriate hernia to fix. Mesh would not be required. Best of luck!
Dear mariamrose, hernia is something that can be fixed during a full tummy tuck procedure. I routinely repair these during my tummy tuck procedures. Not everyone feels comfortably repairing these however. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
The hernia can be repaired at the same time. The decision to use mesh or not depends on the anatomy of the hernia. Sometimes the plastic surgeon repair it (simple hernias) and other time a general surgeon will repair the hernia. The hernia surgery should be covered by your health insurance the abdominoplasty will not be covered,.
Hi. If you are talking about a Spiegel Hernia, the answer is yes, you may need or not a mesh depending on the its size. You are to decide if going to a general surgeon for the correction only, or to a PS to add a TT.International Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS)Member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS)Dominican Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

I do not know whether there are surgeons in Mexico, Dominican Republic, or elsewhere that accept Care Credit, but advise that you carefully consider the risks of having your surgery in a foreign country just to save some money. You are taking a significant risk to go somewhere out...
