I have prominent vertical neck bands, which I believe are also called platysma bands. My dermatologist recommended botox and "SkinTyte". I had botox injections a week ago but haven't noticed any improvement. Should I have noticed a difference by now or does it take longer for the botox to have an effect? And, will "SkinTyte" be helpful? I don't want to spend the $$ if there's no improvement. Thank you. These photos were taken one week after the botox injections. Sorry, but I don't have a "before" photo.

Answer: Neck bands You should get some improvement in the neck bands with Botox but it may take at least 2 weeks to notice the change here. be sure to see a board certified dermatologist who is experienced in this as it can have side effects

Answer: Helping platysmal bands Platysmal bands are rather robust muscles in the neck which like all of the muscles in the body get tighter with age. It may take up to 2 weeks for botox to start working on these muscles. Being a plastic surgeon, I don't believe you will have Improvement that will be of any significance with a use of Botox and skintite. Your neck bands are significant and can only be repaired with a face and neck lift surgery or if you want the least invasive procedure, a j-plasma combined with a lateral suspension of the platysma can help you. I have personally performed a good number of such procedures over the last 2 years with excellent results. Unfortunately j-plasma is just beginning to enter the mainstream and few people have good experience with it so make sure you find yourself a surgeon who is competent in this procedure and his performed many of them. Good luck from New York City
