I am 22 and I started using. I am just wondering will it be able to keep 80-90% of my hair for the next 10-15 years. I just want to know if it’s worth it. If it will only work in preventing my hair loss for 5 years, then I don’t see a reason to take finasteride from the beginning, and deal with all it’s side effects.
Answer: Will Finasteride keep 80-90% of my hair for the next 10-15 years? Studies show that 90% of patients lose no further hair once started on Finasteride. About 50% will regrow some hair. In my experience, there is a huge variation in the response to this medication.I would suggest giving it a try and see how you respond,Dr. Robert Jones

Answer: How effective is Finasteride/Propecia at keeping hair long term? The first thing to understand is that each person's case is specific to them. The rate of progression of hair loss is different based on both genetic and environment factors, so what may keep 80-90% of ahir for one person may keep only 30-40% for someone else. That being said, what I know about Finasteride/Propecia based on its method of action, half life and my detailed knowledge of hair loss, is that in general Finasteride/Propecia is about 60% effective at stopping hair loss. If you are looking for something better than that I recommend you seek out a Hair Doctor who can perform a Biochemical Report Card lab test and get to the root cause of all the factors contributing to your hair loss and stop them, thus allowing your hair to not only stop getting worse but to also regrow.

Answer: Finasteride use Hi, How are you? Finasteride is one of the top strongest DHT blockers on the market. You are absolutely correct. Finasteride is 90% effective in holding onto the existing hair that you already have. It is mainly geared to holding onto the crown. By using this medication it will save you tons of money in the long run and you will not feel like you are constantly chasing the hair. Keep in mind that the side effects are extremely low and the medication is extremely safe and has been FDA approved for the past 26 years. 1.8% of our patients were given a study. Those patients were given sugar pills and they still said that they had side effects. So the Placebo effect is sometimes in high gear. Also, If you haven't had side effects within the first 2 weeks of taking the medication you are not going to get them at all. Side effects will not creep up on you.

Answer: Will finasteride keep 80 %-90 % of my hair? The answer to your question is one can not predict if finasteride will keep 80-90% of your hair. One thing is certain- there is a 90% chance you will have more hair on your head in 10 years if you use finasteride than if you do not. You still may lose after 5-10 years but you’ll likely be way better off.
