Hello I keep reading in peer reviewed medical journals About the L strut in septoplasty in terms of support mechanisms. Can any surgeons shed insight on this topic? I have a deviated caudal septum and I am trying to learn as much as I can. Any information is appreciated thank you

Hi,
yes, it does look like you have retraction on the right side. This can happen with reductive rhinoplasty techniques when the lateral crus (outer part) of the tip cartilage is removed leading to scar tissue and upward displacement of the alar margin. A composite graft can lead to improvement...
Just holding your nose each day won't help. Rhinoplasty can be done to take down that bump permanently, making it look better, but natural as well. At the same time the septum can be straightened so that your breathing gets better as well. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation.
It's always best to fix outside and inside problems at the same time with the nose. We take insurance for the inside, but the rhinoplasty for the outside is considered cosmetic. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation.
