What is the expiration date after asclera is opened?

Viles are 2cc each and used per patient. Once opened, storage is not possible nor recommended. Single use only.

Asclera and Expiration

The expiration of Asclera is on the product itself.  It is used directly from the vials provided and is not stored.  I often use the V-Beam laser for other areas that have smaller blood vessels that are too small to be injected with a needle.  Best, Dr. Green

I would suggest using the entire vial, where appropriate, of Asclera when performing sclerotherapy. There is no reason to store the opened vial.

Asclera Expiration

The vials are single use vials and should be used completely once opened.  You only open the glass vial as needed and use it all completely (which is easy to do) or the rest needs to be discarded.

Used entirely at visit

The vial is used fully once opened.  The vial itself is stored at room temp till it's ready to be used. Expiration date and lot number could be removed from individual vial and placed on documentation as it often done with other products.

Asclera is used immediately after it is opened, as it is comes in a single use ampule (glass vial with no rubber stopper on top). If it were stored after being drawn into a syringe it's potency would remain likely as long as the expiration date on the vial. However, we discard syringes the same day if they are not used.

Asclera is single use

Once you open a vial (carefully- those suckers can cut you) it should be used entirely during the treatment session and the remainder discarded.

Single use

Asclera is generally all used up at the time of the injections.
The shelf life of unused Asclera has not been tested for safety and effectiveness.

Expiration date of asclera once opened

This is a surprising question. Asckera comes in single use glass vials - they have to be broken to open and draw up the product. Each vial has 2 cc of product in it. My nurses pull all the contents into a syringe and throw the broken glass vial in our sharps container.  It's unusual in my practice to use less than 2 cc on a patient. But if anything is left over in the syringe is thrown away. So the issue of how long it is 'good' is moot.
i hope this answer is helpful.
Best of luck

Single Use Vial

Asclera comes in a single use glass vial, and must be used immediately after opening.  The un-used product remaining in the vial cannot be saved for future use.
