Post-op aftercare nurses, what are my options?

Unfortunately I don't know many people who will be able to help me the day of surgery due to our demanding work schedules is there a way I can find professional care for a week or two to help me?

While I perform several hundred TTs each year, my technique will be different from that of another surgeon as will my postoperative regimen.  You may need someone to check on you for a couple of days to assist with post-op care.  My office coordinates with nurses in the area to schedule the care for our patients; Knoxville plastic surgeon offices probably offer the same amenities. You should pose this question to your surgeon who knows better what will be performed and your history as well.  Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Thank you for sharing your question and congratulations on your decision to pursue a tummy tuck procedure.  I would contact your surgeon's office and ask for their recommendation. There are a number of nursing agencies that will be happy to check in on you daily to make sure that you are doing well and not having issues, as well as manage any dressing or drain care instructions.  Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question regarding postop care after your plastic surgery.  Generally speaking, your plastic surgeon’s office is the best place to start regarding this as often they will have working relationships with existing nurses in the area.  Discuss with your board-certified plastic surgeon for the nurse who is most likely to be best suited and have experience in taking care of postop plastic surgery patients.  Hope this information is helpful to you.  Best of luck!

i want all of my patients to be walking around their homes and showering the day following surgery. There also is no reason why you can't go up and down stairs. if you want to have someone come by, you can always hire a nursing agency or look to a home health care company.david berman md
