I got my ears pierced when I was in eighth grade and got a keloid along with it. That was 10 years ago. Although I can still put earrings through the hole, I really want to get rid of this keloid. Is it possible to still put earrings in the hole after the removal of the keloid, or should I avoid earrings?

Answer: It is completely safe to have ear re-pierced after keloid removal.
Our office specializes in Hidradenitis treatments. At this point, I would suggest starting our Hidef protocol that would include medical therapy, scar injection therapy, laser, and biologic treatments to reduce recurrence and soften existing scars. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian#Realself100 Surgeon
I would use a combination of Plato's Scar Serum and pulsed dye laser to help reduce the redness from your scars. These can help reduce scar visibilty. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
I am one of the leading experts in keloid treatment and would begin with application of Plato's Scar Serum, followed by pulsed dye laser and IIT Kenalog. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
