Nose filler dissolving after rhinoplasty surgery? (Photo)

Hello, I have had dermal fillers in my nose previously, and then got a surgical rhinoplasty in February 2024, I can still see the filler migrating between my brows, can I still dissolve this? My rhinoplasty provider has ceased contact with me, and I’d like to know if it’s safe to dissolve - if so when could I do this? Thankyou for any help

Patients who have undergone both nonsurgical nose filler and subsequent surgical rhinoplasty may notice persistent or migrated filler, such as between the brows. Dissolving residual filler after rhinoplasty is possible, but timing and safety are critical. The most common filler used in the nose is hyaluronic acid (HA), which can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. However, the altered anatomy and vascularity after rhinoplasty increase the risk of complications, including vascular compromise and tissue irregularities.

It is generally recommended to wait at least 6–12 months after rhinoplasty before attempting to dissolve residual filler. This allows for complete healing, stabilization of nasal tissues, and a more accurate assessment of the underlying anatomy. Early intervention may disrupt healing or mask surgical outcomes. If the filler is non-HA (such as calcium hydroxyapatite), surgical removal may be required, as enzymatic dissolution is ineffective.

Patients with a history of rhinoplasty have a higher risk of adverse events from subsequent filler procedures, including dissolution, due to changes in vascular patterns and scar tissue. Therefore, any intervention should be performed by a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon experienced in post-rhinoplasty care. Careful assessment and imaging may help confirm the filler’s location and type before proceeding.

It's a high risk area unfortunately and many injectors may be hesitant to inject that particular area even with something like hyaluronidase. I would go to a plastic surgeon who has experience dissolving the glabella area. It can be dissolved but by the right doctor.
