Lips starting to hurt again 1 1/2 weeks after lip filler?

Hi Taylor.  There is no need to panic, but it is a concern that your lips were originally fine post injection and are now starting to get sore and swollen.  There is a rare but recognized delayed reaction to fillers and this might be happening to your lip filler.  It also could be an early infection, which can be related to the reaction to fillers.  Please see  your treatment provider immediately who should be competent to assess and treat the situation accordingly.  Unfortunately, the fact that you have had no issues before with lip filler does not mean that you have had problem this time.  The condition is often treated with antibiotics and time, and it is generally not a requirement to dissolve the filler.  

With the history of settling down, then manifesting as PAIN and SWELLING, I do believe that investigation and management is urgent. Firstly a competent airway is important. Secondly a diagnosis is essential. This could be 1. Infection 2. Biofilm (less likely with the time frame) 3. Antigenic cross reaction (either idiopathic or antigen from occult infection). Each of these diagnosis will have a specific management plan. Please go back to your specialist injector for further assessment. Pain and swelling with your history needs urgent medical management.
