Is scar laser treatment ideal for a 5-month-old red scar on the face? (Photo)

I had a mole surgically removed on my cheek 5 months ago. The scar is now flat and linear, but has blood vessels all around that still make it look red. My surgeon suggested vascular laser treatment: should I wait the 1 year mark to see if it improves by itself? Also, summer is approaching and I know you're not supposed to have laser during the sunniest months. Thank you for your advice.
