1 week 2 days post-op. Normal or concerning? (Photo)

Question

I am 1 week 2 days post op. I sent my surgeon an email with pics a couple days ago (out of town patient) he noticed the discoloration before I left and has had me putting on neosporin on my nipple. I just want to make sure my nipple will be ok. It looks like I’m still bruised but I’m not, the stuff I use to clean the area is a dark orange and turns my skin yellow when cleaning.

and wound care and hope for the best.  If the darkened areas blister and there is pink underneath it, that is good.  If it gets darker, cold, and hard, you will have some tissue loss but it should heal with supervised wound care.

It sounds as though your plastic surgeon is giving you proper advice.  The very dark purple area on the lower areola may have some superficial skin loss which will likely heal with a pink color.  Continue to follow with your surgeon.
