Can I use Epsom salt for a keloid on my nose ? (Photo)

Question

I got my nose pierced about month ago and I noticed that a keloid is starting to form. After doing a lot of research, they all say to use sea salt but I only can find Epsom salt where I live. So I was wondering because sea salt and Epsom salt are about the same. can I just substitute sea salt for Epsom salt?.

Thanks for your photo.  I agree with Dr. Karamanoukian that you should remove the foreign body piercing and keep the area clean to remove the inflammatory stimulation.  The scars and keloids form as a healing response to trauma and should settle down in a few months, but will grow with continued stimulation of inflammation.  Salt treatments may help to reduce swelling, but the foreign body inflammation will only add more collagen to the keloid.  If you do develop nodular keloids, you may need more aggressive management and we can offer several nonsurgical options to consider.
