T Junction Not Healed? (photo)

Question

I had a breast lift/augmentation 11 weeks ago. A few days after surgery I had what looked like a blood blister at the t junction under my left breast. My doc said leave it alone so after stitches were removed it formed a scab. About 3 or 4 weeks ago the scab came loose and she debrided it and now it's just a hole. I've been using Silvadene cream and keeping it covered as instructed. Doesn't look much better and I'm getting a little worried. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

A nonhealing area may be prevented from healing by poor nutrition or systemic healing problem, irritation, infection, tension, lack of tissue or a combination of factors.  Once a wound becomes chronic it is much less likely to heal on its own.  If you had very little tissue prior to surgery, healing at this area can be problematic.  Followup with your plastic surgeon. I usually stop Silvadene after a few days and try to dry out the wound as much as possible.  Weekly visits to your plastic surgeon to keep an eye on things is also not a bad idea.  It should be fine as long as your implant does not get exposed or infected.  Be Well!!

Appears as if the treatment is appropriate and healing does take time. Best to follow your surgeon's recommendation.

A t-closure sometimes has healing issues at the "T" junction.  The biggest concern is if the implant gets exposed.

This is a common area for the skin to break down after a mastopexy / augment.  The biggest problem is that you do now want to get the implant exposed.  It this happens then the implant will need to be removed for several months before it can be replaced.  Hopefully this just a superficial skin loss and will heal over time.
