I recently had injections done to correct contouring on the inside of both thighs just above the knee. I wanted to fill in the hollow areas that were left where too much fat had been previously harvested. I'm unhappy with the result particularly on one leg. The doctor made the injections directly on the inside of my knee, below the target area, so now my knee is larger which further accentuates the hollow area I was hoping to correct.
Answer: Correction of Overfilled Renuva Thank you for your question. I am sorry you are unhappy with your recent injection of Renuva. Since your injection was so recent, you can apply pressure to the area to try and deter from your own fat from settling in the area of the matrix. After about 3 -6 months you will know your final results. At that time, if you still do not like your results, the best way to correct will be liposuction to the area. Be sure to discuss your feelings with the board certified Plastic Surgeon who placed the injection.

Answer: When Injected, Renuva's Honeycomb-Like Matrix is then Filled by Your Own Fat Cells. Great question! When injected, Renuva's honeycomb-like matrix is then filled by your own fat cells. While your fat is being formed naturally by your body, Renuva slowly dissolves and is eliminated by the body. Once the final results of your Renuva treatment have been achieved – which is around the 3 month mark post treatment – and you want to melt some of the new fat you have, we can use fat melting technologies such as deoxycholic acid injections (Kybella) and/or CoolSculpting fat freezing and/or Allura laser assist liposuction and skin tightening. Compression garments are usually used after larger surgical procedures to reduce swelling and potentially improve skin tightening. But I do not know of any data for using such compression hose to reverse Renuva.

Answer: Renuva can help correct aesthetic injection imperfections I'm sorry to hear you are unhappy with the results of your recent Renuva injection. A fat freezing technology can be used to eliminate any unwanted fat, as long as the treatment area is below the jawline. I always recommend injecting Renuva in stages – about every three months – until we achieve their desired results. When injected correctly, the areas treated with Renuva should not look over-inflated.

Answer: Reversing Renuva allograft adipose injection. Hello, even though we do not use Renuva in my practice, we do autograft fat transfers using your own fat. I would imagine that using Renuva matrix has stimulated some overgrowth fat in the area. There are several ways you could address overfilling of fat. We could certainly use a mini liposuction to suck the fat out. Non-Invasie treatments like coolsculpting or sculpture should work in that area as well. Kybella is also an option. A personal consultation would help determine which option would be the best for addressing your particular issue.

Answer: Can Renuva be reversed Renuva is a off-the-shelf treatment that is replaced by one's own fat cells over the course of 12 weeks. The treatment is unlikely to create over-correction, but rather can be redone to increase the effect. That said, if there is too much fat in an area then both non-surgical and surgical techniques could be used to remove the unwanted volume. CoolSculpting, Kybella injections or even liposuction are examples.
