Birthmark removal for Café au lait, costs and treatment options? (Photo)

Question

Hi, I'm hoping to get an idea about what would be the best option for removing the birthmark: surgery, laser, medication, etc. It's on my chest and is about 6cm X 6cm big. Which option is best and most effective, as well as expected costs and number of treatments? I'm not a fan of how it looks, thank you in advance!

Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.

This would be treated like a tattoo - either nanosecond or picosecond technology.  You may not get complete clearance but will likely get some fading with treatments.  Just like a tattoo, you may require 6 or more sessions with picosecond and 12 or more with nanosecond laser.  For pricing and further details, it is best to consult with a board-certified and experienced physician.

I can not comment regarding costs, as this would depend on your insurance cover. The treatment of choice would be a QSL or Q switch lesser in either nano or pico wavelengths. See a Plastics or Dermatologist for this. You may need up to 6 sessions, and 20-40% of these may recur.
