How much a nose will give?

Post rhinoplasty results: I think what your surgeon means is that the results in each case will depend largely on the nose he is starting with. For example when narrowing a nasal bridge, a person with thin straight nasal bones and thin overlying skin will probably achieve a thinner bridge than a person with thick curved nasal bones and thick overlying skin. this is also true of other areas of the nose and it’s particularly true of the tip. The result depends largely on the starting “material“ . some people are better candidates than others and will get better results than others. If a surgeon does 100 rhinoplasties and has the same model nose in mind as a goal, not one of them will be exactly like it and no two noses will be exactly like each other. Each will vary depending on what the nose was like to start.

I believe your surgeon means that there's only so much you can do to improve a nose even if you are a great surgeon. Skin thickness, bone, and cartilage structure will determine the success of the surgery. We can only correct a nose to an extent that nature allows us. Hi there! When the nose is downsized or narrowed, it will take time for the skin to contract to the smaller structure. Sometimes, skin has memory and we need to perform compressions, steroid injections, and taping to encourage it to move toward a new form. That's what I would assume the surgeon means. Hope that helps!
