I did my first diode laser session and i didn't feel any pain or discomfort at all!

Question

I have a light skin and dark hair , i did the first diode laser session , in the bikini area, underarms, legs and arms. I didn't feel any kind of pain and discomfort ! Why !?

Moreover, they offer adjustments according to your hair and skin. It can be that they used a laser with the newest technology and you are more resistant to pain, or it can be that they did not adjust settings high enough, so you could not feel any discomfort. I like my patient to feel the laser somewhat so I have a sense of their tolerability of higher settings. It doesn't mean the treatment wasn't effective, but it does mean that you could tolerate higher settings, if your skin can tolerate it. Discuss with your provider next time.

Thanks for your question.  It is hard to judge whether or not you had a good treatment without knowing what the settings were and your melanin reading.Almost all newer lasers are safe for all skin types and have features built in (such as sapphire cooling tips) to make them more comfortable.  Some of the newer technology is also more efficient, allowing for lower energy settings to be used with better results and less discomfort.  It is unusual to have no discomfort with LHR, but it could be that you have a very high pain tolerance.We always raise the settings to a level where you can feel it and we can see a good reaction on the surface.  Time will tell if you are getting effective treatments.  Our patients often see results after one treatment and usually require a course of 4-6 treatments to destroy the majority of the productive hair follicles.  Best of luck.

Good question.  My first thought is "what was the wavelength" used?

Not all lasers are created equal and an effective treatment requires the optimal wavelength and energy settings.

It's unusual not to feel anything, especially in sensitive areas such as the bikini & underarms.

Be sure to choose a provider that has doctor supervision, is very experienced and offers multiple wavelengths to customize your treatment.  Over the years, our SkinLaze clients typically require 6-8 treatments and for all of the areas you mentioned your hair growth cycle is every 6-8 weeks so your treatments should be every 6-8 weeks.
