Hi! I’m 26 years old with a tear through on my left eye circled in blue for you. I would like to know what I can do to get rid of it or make it look like the other under eye? Currently I’m not comfortable getting injections of fillers into the tear through and I would like to know what else I could do to get rid of it? Is there a laser that could get rid of this or anything other than filler? Thank you.
Answer: Unfortunately no What you are seeing is due to hollowing between the natural fat of your eyes and your cheekbone. The only way to smoothen this line would be to either decrease the fat in your eyes via lower blepharoplasty surgery and/or to add volume to your cheekbone via filler or fat. Anyone who tells you otherwise should show you photos to prove that their technique will work.

Answer: A few options Hello, I think fillers would be the most predictable way to address the tear trough on the left side and have it better match the right side. However, an alternative to filler would be "skin resurfacing" options that could stimulate collagen and help that area look less hollow (more smooth). Resurfacing options to stimulate collage would be microneedling or something like Morpheus (microneedling with radiofrequency). "Resurfacing" options are less predictable and require multiple sessions. It also doesn't address the cause of the asymmetry which I think is due to asymmetry in the underlying bone. Filler can help to restore volume on that left side to improve asymmetry. Hope this helps!

Answer: Tear trough area From the submitted photo you would be a candidate for under eye filler to improve the asymmetry and volume loss. Other options include AccuTite and Morpheus8. Both nonsurgical treatments use RF technology and are safe to use under the eyes to improve the contours. See a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Getting rid of a tear trough Unfortunately, the single photograph you provided, does not give enough information to determine the treatment plan. My recommendation is to have an in person consultation with a plastic surgeon. If what looks like a bag is really a bone, fat grafting into the tear trough will easily correct that condition once, and for all. On the other hand if during the physical examination, it is determined that what looks like a bag is one, then a transconjuctival blepharoplasty would be the best approach. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City Plastic Surgery.
