Is it normal for the tattoo to still be raised 4 weeks after tattoo removal? (Photos)

Question

It seemed flat after the first week then became raised. I thought it was healing well as it didn't blister or anything. It is still itchy now 4 weeks on. Pic may not show how raised it is but it can be felt when you run your finger over it

Hello, I have seen this slight elevation on others as well. As your body continues to heal and starts to clear more and more ink it will most likely go back down. I do think you have some scar tissue from the tattoo artist which is very common a thick tattoo like yours. This will feel slightly raised, although not as much as this healing, even after you finish your tattoo removal. Using a laser like the PicoWay Resolve can help soften scar tissue during and after your tattoo removal.

Thank you for your inquiry.  From your photos it seems that the tattoo ink is very thick.  It takes a while for the ink to lift and there could potentially still be some swelling in the area from ongoing inflammation.  If this is the case it should eventually resolve.  Underlying scar tissue from the initial tattoo placement or the laser treatment will not resolve and may need additional treatments to smooth out the raised areas.
