Does IPL Remove Beauty Marks?

I had an IPL treatment done last week and the nurse accidentally went over a mole (beauty mark) that I did not want removed. I can see that is started scabbing. Will it be permanently gone or will it darken over time?

Thank you for your question. I have seen this before, and they are like "old faithful" and will return another day to darken up and be your "beauty mark" once again.  The pigment removal is temporary, and pigment should return in 3-6 months. I hope this helps.

IPL can lighten a beauty mark as it does other pigmented spots on the skin. The treatment heats dark pigment which forms a crust before being shed from the skin. Since the melanocytes are not entirely destroyed, the pigment will most likely return with time.
