Laser resurfacing is the best and most permanent way to remove lip lines. Fillers will help a lot if the lines are not too severe.
IPL and Genisis will not typically give you optimal results for "moderately deep lines on the upper lip". Consider a stronger resurfacing laser, Botox, and a filler like Restylane for best results. IPL and lasers help very minimally with very superficial lines and wrinkles. IPL and lasers are more targeted for pigment issues and discolorations in tone and texture. If you have moderate to deep lines they are absolutely not going to make any recognizable difference for you. For moderate to deep lines in this area you would need to consult a board-certified physician about possible fillers.
Sigh, I'm sorry. Unfortunately, the short answer is "no" hypopigmentation doesn't resolve. Because in essence the pigment has been removed from there, and you cannot get it back. You can try to have further IPL (from a doctor's office only!!) to lighten the skin around the very hypopigmented...
Sometimes after a procedure like this, the skin can become irritated. If there is redness and itching, it may be fine to use some hydrocortisone 1% cream. If it persists, I would encourage you to see your physician.
The coffee ground spots that you are experiencing is a good sign that the IPL treatment was effective. The pigment will usually take 1-2 weeks to flake off. There may be swelling, but it is fine to wear make-up after treatment. We recommend mineral based make-up and a good spf....
