Slapped my face, post-septoplasty surgery, 4.5 days. Could I have caused serious damage?

NicI have been doing noses for 24 years and it is extremely rare for such an event to create a lasting problem. Given your story I would say that you probably did no harm whatsoever to your nose. Ice and antiinflammatories (Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, etc.) regularly until you see your surgeon. be mindful of young children in your arms, dogs and luggage compartments on airplanes as these are frequent sources of post op trauma to the nose.

Dear Nzrostlik, From the above description I would think you have caused no major harm and should heal just fine. However, I personally would not suggest taking antiinflammatories such as (Motrin, Ibuprofin,Advil) this soon after surgery and post trauma as these medications may cause bleeding by interfering with your platelets. I suggest speaking with your surgeon before taking any medications other then what was prescribed post operativly. Accidents as this do happen and in my 30 years of doing rhinoplasty surgery I have had patients with many incidents with flying toys, arrant arms, jumping dogs etc and while they make the patient anxious I have had no actual complications from these incidents.
