Do internal nasal splints contribute to a bigger appearancec or pig snout after Rhinoplasty?

Nasal Splints provide some gentle pressure on the septum after surgery to reduce swelling or a hematoma.  Common splints called Doyle splints have a tube that allows a breathing passage.  Depending on how the splints are placed and the size of the nostril area, these types of splints can temporarily make the nostrils look 'swollen'.  When the splints are removed, most of this effect goes away immediately.  However other swelling in the lower nasal area can make the nostrils appear upturned or have a less desirable appearance.  This usually improves over time.  Many changes occur in the first few weeks but other subtle changes can appear over a year or longer.  The overall result is going to be the result of what what done by the surgeon, how the healing goes, and how you and the surgeon are working to manage your expectaionts on the outcome!

Internal nasal splits do not contribute to pig snout or big tip appearance after rhinoplasty. The result of the surgery is due to the procedure alone and your healing mechanism.
