I believe my septum is deviated. My nose is very sideways and my nostrils are uneven. It is uncomfortable and breathing is a bit annoyingly I wanted to know where I should go to be diagnosed/how likely insurance is to cover it. I understand cosmetic rhinoplasties are not covered by insurance but are offered at a discount since they will be in there anyway and have already used anesthesia for the septoplasty. When I sniff, one nostril goes in/touches the bridge while the other doesn't.

Answer: Rhinoplasty In my experience, septoplasties done for the improvement of breathing are a covered procedure. Often, patients will pay for the rhinoplasty which isn’t paid for by insurance. All costs relative to the rhinoplasty such as the time of anesthesia during the rhinoplasty will also not be covered, and is usually paid for by the patient. Hope this helps!

Answer: How likely am I to have insurance pay for septoplasty and accompany it with a cosmetic rhinoplasty? A thorough internal examination the nose is going to be required to determine medical necessity to bill medical insurance. Preauthorization must occur with your specific insurance plan. Anticipate co-pays and deductibles associated with any functional internal nasal surgery. Expect to pay for the cosmetic component of the rhinoplasty yourself. The cosmetic rhinoplasty procedure would accomplish straightening the crooked nose, shaving down the dorsal hump and refining the nasal tip.
