How bad is my deviated septum based on the pictures and should I get it fixed? (Photos)

The fact that your nostrils are asymmetric doesn’t always mean you have a deviated septum. That would require an internal nasal exam. However the symmetry of your nostrils could be improved a lot with surgery. And that could be triaged to a deviated  septum.

You should also get examined be by an otorhinolaryngologist. Therefore, my personal advice for you to schedule first two in-person appointments; one by an otorhinolaryngologist, and the other one is by a board-certified plastic surgeon. Please make sure that both of the experts are in contact with each other while making a decision on your Rhinoplasty procedure.

  The pictures only show a twisted nose, which is corrected with a  Cosmetic rhinoplasty. An internal examination of the nose is required to determine whether  your septum is deviated enough to warrant medical necessity and get it fixed. A septoplasty will not change the shape of the nose, and is only performed for functional purposes to improve airflow dynamics.  Both a septoplasty and rhinoplasty can be performed together when necessary, but expect to pay for the rhinoplasty component yourself.

Hi, thank you for your question.  I am glad that you used the term "a bit"...as you have a good perspective that it is not severe....we can show you some severe ones! That being said, when we address the septum it is when the septum is deviated and causing nasal obstruction OR it is very torqued/deviated and twists the external nose.  It appears that the caudal septum is "off" to the right. This can happen from birth or also from trauma.  The tip loses some support and strength.  The septum CAN be brought back to the midline.  However, this needs to be documented on physical examination and you need to weigh the risks of surgery.....its not like fixing appliances....the outcome could be better, worse or the same!

Dear Mini_06, An intra nasal examination is needed to determine if you have a deviated septum. This is done during the time of consultation and if indeed you have one then a septorhinoplasty would be the best procedure for you. This is a combined procedure where the "septo" portion addresses the deviated septum and the functional aspects of the nose and the "rhinoplasty" portion addresses the aesthetic changes that are needed. Seek consultations with experts in the field and have imaging performed to show you the proposed surgical results and then review the surgeons before and after photographs to ensure expertise.
