Thanks for the question. It can be a difficult topic and requires an extended conversation to go over the details. I recently wrote an editorial on this and you may find it helpful. Rather than simply retype it, I posted a link below. It is a three part editorial and you may find it helpful.James P. A pre-trichial or trichophytic lift is what you want. In this surgery the incision is done at the front of the hairline. Dissection is then done both down to the brow to elevate the brow, and also back over the top of the head. The whole scalp can then be advanced, so that the forehead can be shortened at the same time the brow is elevated.
Yes, your hairline can be lowered to a certain degree. The forehead lift incision is made in the first few hairs at the beginning of your hairline (pretrichial or trichophytic incision). If the incision is carefully beveled, hairs can grow up through the scar during the healing process to help disguise the scar. The hair-bearing scalp from behind the incision can be lifted and brought forward, lowering your hairline. At the same time, the forehead skin is elevated and lifted superiorly, the excess is trimmed to shortened the height of the forehead and lift the eyebrows. In addition, hair transplantation with single follicular unit grafts can help fill in the frontal hair and make it appear lower.
Thank you for your question. Yes both can be done at the same time. If makes an incision over the front of the hair line they can lower the hairline. I hope you find this information useful.
This is a very good combination of upper facial procedures due to the common incision used. The key is to set the hairline advancement position first and then execute the pretrichial browlift.
where incisions are at the hairline can do this for you. Ask your surgeon for their thoughts and make sure they can meet your expectations before scheduling.
When performing a browlift, its important the patients understand that the hairline must raised or lowered during the procedure, all depending upon where the incision is placed. When lowering the hairline, a coronal approach incision will be placed at the hairline, and excess skin that is removed is the non-hair bearing skin, so that will bring the hairline downwards. In addition to adjusting the hairline and lifting the brows, asymmetrical eyebrows can also be adjusted along with the frontalis and corrugator wrinkles of the forehead can be softened. For many examples, please see the link and the video below
A pretrichial brow lift (an incision along the hairline), when done properly, can raise the brows, smoothe the forehead and maintain or sometimes lower the hairline position.
Yes. This procedure is performed by using a pretrichial incision in the forehead. A beveled incision is made in front of the hairline (actually behind a small amount of hair). After the forehead is lifted the hairline can be lowered. The beveling of the incision allows hairs to grow through the incision and help camouflage it.
We frequently lower the hairline, raise the brows and reduce the forehead at the same time. This is why we developed the Irregular Trichophytic Hairline Incision technique many years ago. The hairline incision enables us to maintain the hairline position or lower it when necessary. Hair will grow through and in front of this incision so the patient has total freedom of hair styling after the surgery.
Browlifts will settle slightly lower than initial placement regardless of approach. How much they settle depends on the fixation method used for repositioning the brows more than the approach (open vs. endoscopic).
Relaxing the muscles in the area will definitely soften the crease but augmenting this area would probably be a more permanent solution. You have some options: Radiesse works well in that area and can be long lasting. This is probably the easiest option, but it needs to be done by an expert...
