Injury scar on the shin laser removal - which is best for me? (photos)

Question

I have a 3 year old Injury and stays brown. Would laser help to remodel the scar and remove the Color . Because it's not on the face I'm not looking for perfection but just something to improve . Laser resurfacing , ablative or fractional or radio frequency ? Thank you

Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.

These spots can be improved with a combination of Cosmelan, lasers, Aerolase, microneedling/prp, skin lightening, peels, and skin care. Sun protection is essential. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Microneedling with PRP is safe, effective and harmless to remodel a scar such as this.  This treatment can be combined to topical brightening agents and chemical peels formulated for the body.

It’s hard to say for sure from the pictures, but you might benefit from laser treatment. I would consider using a laser such as Q-switched alexandrite laser to target and lighten brown pigment. Please see a laser expert for in-person evaluation.
