Redness on some parts of the face after a chemical peel done at home. What should I do? (photos)

My dermatologist asked me to perform a chemical peel at home. I did it two days ago by following all the instructions given, but I woke up the next day with red and inflamed cheeks :( Is this normal? Any suggestions on what I should do? I asked my derm and she told me to apply desonide lotion 2 times a day for 1 week. But I’m afraid the desonide will clog my pores and leave me with more whiteheads than I already have. Thanks in advance!
