Have any of your patients developed PAH after coolsculpting?

Question

I had coolsculpting 8 months ago. Now the area is looking bigger, and firmer than normal fat in the surronding. sometimes it feels tender slightly sore but not painful. How to correct /treat it? Does it grow back after you remove it surgically? Im very scared at this moment. Thank you

If you would like a better opinion please feel free to share your before and after pictures. You will need an in person consultation with the physician who runs the cool sculpting center you went to. If you didn't go to where a plastic surgeon is, then seek a consultation. If this is indeed the issue it can be fixed with liposuction. Best of Luck.

This is difficult to answer without before and after pictures and needs an in-person evaluation. Weight might play a role in this or fat was redistributed back to that area. While, Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia is extremely rare, it can occur. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a body contouring expert. Pain can be variable and can be treated with anti-inflammatories or neurontin.  A VASER hi def procedure would be needed to give improvement, because this type of fat is very fibrous and needs an energy based device to remove it. I have not had any patients diagnosed with PAH.  First of all, this is an extremely rare side effect of coolsculpting.  If you feel that the area you had treated has changed in some way I would recommend returning to the doctor who performed your treatment for evaluation.  They will likely need to take pictures to compare the areas from prior to your treatment.  They will also need to compare your weight and perform a physical exam.  The photos are probably the most important part of the documentation process so hopefully you are able to obtain your pre-treatment photos.  If your doctor believes you have PAH then your case will be submitted to the company.  The treatment for PAH is liposuction, which theoretically should be a permanent fix.  Since PAH is such a rare complication I do not think that you will find many doctors/plastic surgeons who have experience liposuctioning areas of PAH.  Don't be scared, just go back and talk with your doctor.  Best of luck!
