2 months back I had a PRP session after 2 days I started losing a lot of hair. Like every time i ran my hands through my hair 4-5 hairs always come out. After a month I had another session but hair loss continued, also after each session I had this slight pain and a little swelling beneath my ear which went away after 2 days. I am on finax 1mg and minopep 5 % hair serum once a day since past 1 month. I have attached my pictures since past 5 years. Please suggest.

It is extremely rare to have shock loss after a PRP treatment using Plain PRP and the subdermal depo injection technique (Rapaport). There can be other reasons for your hair loss after the PRP session. It could be shock loss from the injection technique or addition of A cell or some other material. Shock loss can be found when extra volume is injected often with a ring block You may have undiagnosed hair loss from one of many possible etiologies. In this case, PRP will not stop the shedding in such a short period of time. You should visit a hair loss expert to be evaluated. They will do a good history, examination with magnification, woods lamp, and possibly blood work and biopsy.

Hi, It is normal to loose about 100-150 hairs a day. So if you are loosing 4-5 that is totally normal. Hoiwever, I would do my research and look into the center where they are performing your PRP Treatments. Reason being is because some places have you coming in every 3-6 months for reapplication because their PRP is not as powerful and not as effective. Finasteride is a great prevention to be on and just for that alone you are a few steps ahead. However, We provide our patients with amazing PRP results reason is is because we have the latest and greatest technology and we only recommend our patients come in once every 8-12 months for reapplication. Also, our PRP is always red and when it is red it is much more powerful and much more effective. It is considered like an atomic bomb. Like a hair botox.

Our office has not seen this happening with PRP but rather new baby hair growth by session 2-3. It would be best to have you see a dermatologist to have your scalp checked. Hope you can keep everyone posted on how you are doing after you see a dermatologist.

Very unusual to see hair loss with PRP treatment. I would get a thorough evaluation by a dermatologist or hair specialist to make sure there is no medical reason for your hair loss.

Hello,PRP works the best for younger patients with recent hair loss. There is no data showing doing PRP more than once offering better results. Therefore I offer ONLY one PRP +ACell and wait 3-4 months if it is working try once more and then yearly. This is protocol in my practice. PrP is not as effective as finasteride but it could give you some added benefit. If you don’t see further improvement in 6-9 months PrP should be abandoned.
