Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads can seriously improve surface sun damage and UV related pigmentation. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery. Best,Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon
Age is not the primary determinant for Fraxel resurfacing. Your overall health, medical history and the condition of your skin will better dictate whether this is an appropriate treatment for you. Fraxel works by creating micro-injuries in the skin, which stimulates the natural healing processes of the body. I encourage you to schedule an in-person assessment with a board-certified dermatologist who will take the time to evaluate your skin and discuss your concerns and goals. Through this consultation, you should be able to decide if Fraxel is the best treatment to give you the results you want.
Thank you for your question. Fraxel is a laser treatment that creates tiny channels in your skin to stimulate the body’s healing response. As cells begin to regenerate and collagen levels increase, the skin becomes smoother and firmer from the inside out. This treatment is customizable to each patient, based on the level of correction needed and the patient’s goals. While I would need to see you in person to know for sure, rest assured that many patients your age achieve very good results with Fraxel resurfacing alone or in combination with other rejuvenation treatments. Make sure you work with an experienced, board-certified dermatologist to ensure your treatment is safe and as effective as possible.
Hello and thank you for your question. Fraxel is a treatment that uses fractionated laser energy to create micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-channels stimulate the body’s natural healing processes while leaving surrounding skin and tissue alone. The benefit is an increase in collagen production that supports the dermal structure at the cellular level, smoothing away lines and restoring youthful fullness from the inside out. Fraxel can be customized to the unique needs of each patient, which means patients can get just the amount of correction they need. Patients of any age will respond to the Fraxel, so age is not a factor. It may take a bit longer to produce new collagen in your seventies and beyond, but I’ve seen excellent results in older age groups. However, you will need to schedule an in-person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist for a thorough assessment and determination on which treatment might offer you the best results.
Fraxel is one option in collagen induction therapies, which work by stimulating more collagen production in the body to rejuvenate the complexion. Microneedling is another. You can also combine microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to further enhance the restorative process. Your age will not be as critical as the condition of your skin in determining the best treatment for you. I recommend an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can assess your skin and create a customized treatment plan for you.
Fraxel is a wonderful treatment that works on any age. Many of my Fraxel patients are ages 45+ and specifically use the treatment for age spots, pigmentation, and fine lines and wrinkles. You can get Fraxel at 90 if you want to, it is extremely beneficial, especially on aging skin.
