How much it cost for a jaw reduction using Botox? (Photo)

Question

I am Asian, female, 25 yrs old. I have a square jaw due to bruxism (grinding/chewing at sleep unconsciously) since I was a child. And I want to have a feminine face shape and the other side of my jaw is little bit bigger than the other one and I'm so conscious about it that I always cover it with my hair. The other questions are; how long the Botox last? How many sessions I needed to get my desired face shape?

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  If during an examination the size of your masseter muscles is indeed large they can be injected with 20-25 units of Botox to help atrophy them.  This can help slim your face.  Results can last up to 6 months and would require serial treatments to continue the effect.  If you pursue additional botox into your temporalis muscle you may also be able to help with your teeth clenching.  Hope this helps.

For masseter reduction it usually takes about 40 units in each muscle but if they are uneven to start with this could vary a little. cost depends on where you are and in Indiana it is not that expensive--perhaps a few hundred dollars but be sure you see an experienced board certified dermatologist such as Dr Bill Hanke in Carmel. it will last 6-9 months

Hi,You are referring to injecting Botox into the bite muscles which can lead to a squared appearance when enlarged.  Usually 20-30 units are injected per side.  Most providers charge by the number of units used.  In my area, it would generally fall in the range of $500 to $700 for 25 units per side (50 units total).

Thanks for sharing your question and photo. When it comes to face slimming with Botox, I usually start by injecting 20-25 units of Botox per masseter muscle. That is a total dose of 40-50 units of Botox per treatment session. The results last 4-6 months. I usually recommend that patients see me for repeat treatment 3 times a year for the first year and then we can try to space the treatments further out the 2nd year (maybe 2 sessions/year). Most patient requires 2-3 treatment session to see substancial results for face slimming.

Dear Sonada Thank you for your question. The first thing to judge is whether it is indeed the masseter muscle that is the problem or the bony shape of your jaw.Only if the muscle is enlarged significantly will using botox make any difference.I personally am very careful not to overdo this area and tend to use less botox than some eg 10 - 15 units per side is a decent dose.Most of my patients describe a year free from problems before they come back for their next treatment.Kind Regards Dr Dinesh Maini Zenith Cosmetic Clinics
